Vibracoustic opens new Material Development Center

Vibracoustic, a leading global automotive NVH expert, opened its new Material Development Center in its location in Weinheim, Germany. 25 material experts work closely with the Vibracoustic engineering, supporting with new prototype compounds and conducting comprehensive testing in the new 2,200 square meter large facility.

In the new lab the material experts can conduct analytical and physical material testing as well as corrosion tests to secure quality, durability and performance criteria of the automotive manufacturers. Furthermore, a rheology laboratory is included, which evaluates and refines the deformation and flow characteristics of materials, both solids and liquids.

In the prototyping area, new raw compounds are developed, small batches of compounds are mixed and vulcanized on the spot to conduct further testing. Furthermore, a dedicated Micro Cellular Urethane (MCU) shot machine allows to conduct tests and produce prototypes of this special microcellular foam material.

The new Material Development Center further strengthens the company’s position as a leading global automotive NVH expert by securing innovative, high-performance and extensively tested materials for its products to increase the driving comfort of its customers vehicles.
